Research Areas
Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance
We develop innovative solutions for the detection of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, spanning the entire in vitro diagnostics value chain: from next-generation monoclonal antibodies as critical raw materials to rapid tests, chemiluminescence immunoassays (CLIA) and molecular diagnostics. We also explore novel RNA-based therapeutic strategies and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery systems targeting priority pathogens, with a particular focus on combating antimicrobial resistance and strengthening preparedness for future biological threats.
Advanced Molecular Diagnostic Technologies
We are developing a proprietary, next-generation, interoperable real-time PCR technology capable of simultaneously detecting up to 10 targets in a single reaction while maintaining high levels of sensitivity, specificity, and robustness. This technology enables the development of comprehensive, flexible diagnostic panels that can be deployed across multiple analytical platforms, supporting infectious disease diagnosis, epidemiological surveillance, and a broad range of clinical applications. In parallel, we develop next-generation sequencing (NGS) solutions to further expand the capabilities of molecular diagnostics and genomic characterization.
Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine
We develop NGS-based solutions for the analysis of genetic variants that influence individual responses to drug therapies, enabling more informed treatment selection, improved therapeutic outcomes, and reduced adverse drug reactions, ultimately supporting the implementation of personalized medicine.
Technologies for Nucleic Acid Therapeutics
We develop next-generation lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for the targeted delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics. Our research focuses on the design of novel ionizable lipids and advanced formulations incorporating passive and active targeting strategies, including ligand conjugation to selectively deliver therapeutic cargo to specific organs, tissues, and cell populations. These technologies are designed to unlock the full therapeutic potential of RNA-based medicines by improving delivery efficiency, precision, and safety.
Bioinformatics and Computational Intelligence
Bioinformatics is a key enabler across our research activities. We develop computational tools, advanced algorithms, and artificial intelligence solutions to support the design and optimization of molecular diagnostic technologies, genomic data analysis, and next-generation sequencing applications. We also apply computational modelling and de novo design approaches to identify novel ligands for active targeting strategies in nucleic acid therapeutics.
