VIASURE Fetal Sex Determination Real Time PCR detection kit is a multiplex real-time PCR designed to detect Y-chromosome specific genes in fetal free circulating DNA isolated from maternal plasma (cell-free fetal DNA, or cffDNA). The isolated DNA is amplified on specific regions corresponding to the Y-chromosome specific genes DYS14, SRY and DAZ using specific primers and a fluorescent-labeled probes.

VIASURE Fetal Sex Determination Real Time PCR Detection Reagents RUO contains all the components necessary for real time PCR assay (specific primers/probes, dNTPs, buffer and polymerase) in a stabilized format. The assay uses a human housekeeping gene as an Endogenous Internal Control (EIC) (β-globin gene) to follow-up the integrity of the sample, to monitor the extraction process and/or discard the inhibition of the polymerase activity. Human housekeeping genes are involved in basic cell maintenance and, therefore, are expected to be present in all nucleated human cells and maintain relatively constant expression levels.
