Giardia
Giardia intestinalis is an intestinal protozoan that causes giardiasis, an infection that may lead to diarrhoea, abdominal pain and bloating, nausea, weight loss, and impaired nutrient absorption. The severity and duration of symptoms may vary, and some infections may remain asymptomatic.
Transmission occurs mainly via the faecal–oral route through the ingestion of cysts present in contaminated water or food. Its detection in faecal samples is of interest in parasitological, epidemiological, and public health studies.
Certest CLIA Giardia Ag is an automated chemiluminescence immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Giardia intestinalis in human faecal samples.
The product is intended exclusively for research use only (RUO) and must not be used for clinical diagnosis, disease prevention, or treatment.
